Water and the logic of supply

Water! The very essence of life on Earth. So important is this resource that mankind has sent spacecraft to the Planet Mars just to locate water in order to determine the viability of life on that Planet also. For those who are under the impression that oil is the most important commodity on Earth, think again. We could live without oil even though it would create great difficulties. We absolutely cannot live without water. Period. This is a fact that seems to be overlooked by most people going about their daily routine.
For the most part, in developed nations like Canada, the United States and Europe our local governments are responsible for the safe and adequate delivery of drinking water to all of our homes and businesses.
It is important to note the fact that for some people, they are content to walk into a 7/11 or other grocery store and plunk down $1.50 for a litre of bottled drinking water. This is exactly the same product we get straight from our taps at home but the marketplace demands, and receives, $1.50 per litre when it is purchased through innovative marketing. Hell, if we paid this price for our drinking water at the house, our water bills would be more than $500.00 PER DAY!!!
Luckily for us we don't pay "Market Price" for drinking water, nor should we.
This same logic should apply equally for Electricity and Natural Gas. maybe we should include Oil in that mix also, given many, many third world nations don't pay "Market Price" for Oil.
That's my thoughts.
